Install the app

freestate.app is a website you can install. Chrome and iPhone use the browser install flow. GrapheneOS and other de-Googled Androids should download the signed Android APK so the launcher icon is not badged by Vanadium or Brave.

Step-by-step

1On GrapheneOS, Vanadium, Cromite, or similar: open /install and download the APK.
2Allow that browser or Files to install unknown apps, then open the downloaded APK.
3On Chrome with Play services, use Install app in the browser menu instead of the APK.
4On iPhone, use Share → Add to Home Screen.
5Signed-in members can also find this under Settings → App.

Troubleshooting

A home-screen shortcut from Vanadium or Brave will show a browser badge. That is an Android shortcut, not the APK.
If the APK opens with a browser bar at the top, Digital Asset Links on app.freestate.app may not match the signing cert.
Site content updates without a new APK. Rebuild the package only when the icon, name, or start URL changes.
